Ocean View Guestbook

I think your own personal context will effect how you perceive a property. I have just completed 15 nights at Ocean View. I was here by myself and was catching up with friends in Sri Lanka, not so focussed on a holiday. I found my room No7 had a very comfortable bed, new pillows and a new air conditioner with an ensuite. The shower a little low on water pressure and I perceive being solar heated showers late in the evenings was tepid, so best to aim for an early evening or late afternoon washdown. It cost me $32 a night, continental breakfast you paid extra for. The overal residence is well maintained. Mark the owner is usually around and is very helpful with good english spealing ability. The place is well situated not too far from the Negombo township. I hired a bike for $2 a day via Mark. He is very prompt in responding to emails. Paying a tuk tuk $4 each time for a round trip into Negombo adds up. If you want a swim the surrounding pools in other hotels will give you access for between $3 and $4. I also frequented buffet breakfasts in surrounding hotels for between $8 and $12. Camelot Hotel at $8 is great value. If you want the best and widest choice Jetwing Blue will set you back $12. The Catamarran Hotel a couple doors up has a nice breakfast for $10. So my room was great to drop in for the night.

We stayed here for two nights after 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. Mark the owner was extremely helpful and found us a room when the accommodation we had booked let us down. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed had the only spring mattress we had seen during our trip.
We also took a ten day tour with Ocean View, our driver Muditha was excellent, with good English and a good sense of humor, essential when spending 10 days together! The trip was well organized competitively priced and the guesthouses we stayed in exceeded our expectations.

I wanted to say again many thanks for the perfect trip. We saw a lots of interested things around sri lanka such as beautiful beaches, great landscape and certainly the human culture and the sri lankan cuisine. All in One perfect, really!!! We had a awesome time with my friends and with Moodi as well.

Definitely, i gonna recommend my friends in germany your Ocean View Guesthouse and especially the brilliant trip support and accomplishment.

We spent lovely days at Ocean View in Negombo before we went on the 10 days tour with W.A. Wasantha Soma (Tour Guide from Ocean View). All Guesthouses and Hotels were clean and the staff was friendly. We highly recommend booking a tour with Ocean View, especially with Wasantha Soma.

Stayed in this simple guesthouse for one night before joining a tour of Sri Lanka that used another hotel in Negombo. The owner Mark responded to all my questions posed to him on email. As I was arriving late at night, I used his airport pickup service and was met by a driver waiting for me with a sign. I booked a room which had 2 twin beds, a/c, fan, private bathroom, mosquito net. It was clean, toilet flushed, hot water available for shower. I had a nice breakfast of fried eggs, toast, coffee and fruit platter. I then contracted with Mark for a day tour of Colombo. He was very pleasant, spoke good English and very knowledgeable about his country. I met a couple who booked a one week tour through him and seemed very happy with the service. Don't expect a 5 star hotel here. Staff very efficient and friendly. Would definitely stay here and use Mark's tour services again.

I took a trip to Sri Lanka with my wife and Ocean view took such an amazing care of us. 1) airport pick-up is so easygoing and refreshing after long flight 2) rooms are just big and and clean enough and chatting with Mark is more pleasant than you can imagine 3) we took 10days tour (it is so perfectly and detailed cleared on guest house website) and we cannot stop to worship Ocean view and our driver-guide Mahi!!! the tour was excellent, excellent, excellent - Mahi become a friend of us and we never forget his advises and good care... We just trusted Ocean view with everything and they made our Sri Lanka trip unforgettable... thank you once again Mark, Mahi and Ocean view team, you do amazing job and we wish you good luck and many new customers - you deserve the best...

we are two friend from Turkey stayed in this guest house during our visiting Sri Lanka.It is very near to negombo city center and also air port. there are many different types rooms changing with different prices. all the rooms very simple but very clean. all the person working there are sincerely and kindly.Also you can take a daily tours or others for discovering Sri Lanka. We took 9 night 10 days round tour. It was so wonderfull for us.Mark owner of the house was perfect at his job.Thank you Mark for everything.We strongly comment to everybody who wish to visit to Sri Lanka.

One of the nicest, cleanest, no peeling paint anywhere, best value budget hostels we have stayed in. Great value!

I were only one night. Arrived at 1PM left at 5AM...no problems. Mark, owner was very helpful with airport transfer. Nothing bad to say about this place...great bang for the buck!
