Ocean View Guestbook

Ocean View is an ideally placed guest house for staying after you arrive in Sri Lanka or for the last night before you depart. (About 20 mins drive from the airport) Its also about 50m walk from the beach. Lots of good local restaurants close by too. (Try BiJou restaurant - very good swiss restaurant. Food was outstanding) Mark and staff are all very friendly and Mark arranged to collect us from the airport and also arranged us a taxi (with Sunnil) to travel down the south coast. Sunnil knows the area very well and his price was reasonable for the distance and time it took. On arrival we stayed in one of the non-air conditioned rooms. Cheap and cheerful and does was it says on the tin. On our way home we stayed there in an air-con'd room, and this was not much more in terms of price per night, but a lot more comfortable and very well maintained.

I would liked to take this opportunity to thank Mr Mark & staff for their kind hospitality and services rendered during our stayed there from 05-14 Dec 08. With his excellent service, he too have arranged for our stay at Nuwara Eliya which was amazingly unforgetable and memorable for us. My thought about Sri Lanka have changed since my visit there. We will definitely come back again.

very beautiful place to stay and relax..... had a great time there and the tours that they run are great value for money!!! Mark the owner is a really nice guy, thanks so much for the wonderful time!!!

Mark- the guy who runs the place was nice enough to pick me up from the airport after midnight- even when my flight was late. He and the other staff were able to help me out with info on buses and were happy to assist with anything I needed. The room was basic, but clean and all you need.

Thank you so much for all your help in organising our 12 day tour of Sri Lanka. Our driver, Wasantha was brillant. He spoke great English and was full of useful and interesting information.

Despite numerous travel warnings against visiting Sri Lanka, we had a wonderful time and didn't feel threatened in the slightest. My advice to anyone thinking of visiting Sri Lanka would be just go. It's fantastic!! Email Mark and he'll point you in the right direction.

Ocean View Guest House was a lovely hotel in a very convenient location. Highly recommended.

Me and my wife stayed for one night in Ocean View Guesthouse in january 2008 and after spending 2 weeks in Sri Lanka and changing 10 hotels I can say that it is a great place compared to other Sri Lankan hotels. It is clean, comfortable and people working there are very nice which is the most important.
Their 24 hours airport pickup service was also of great help.
But the thing that I am most thankful to Mr. Thamel (owner) is that he helped us to find a driver there. We first wanted to do the traveling ourselves with public transport. But when you arrive to Sri Lanka you will see that it is impossible, if you want to see all the things in Sri Lanka for short time. So we called Mr. Thamel from Colombo and he helped us to get in contact with great driver Mr.Rajith and didn't ask any money for his services (of course we payed driver and the price as we found out later was fare).
I also regret that we didn't book one of tours from this site, since it seems like we didn't save to much money and I really had troubles organizing the trip myself.
All our recommendation to Mr. Thamel, Mr. Rajith and Ocean View Guesthouse.
